Rotate to regenerate

Mancini Chickpeas

Le Miglioratrici are soil-enriching pulses that we cultivate every year in rotation with our durum wheat in the fields of our farm in the heart of Le Marche region.

They naturally enrich the soil with nitrogen, an essential nutrient.

They improve the fertility of the land, which will then host our Estate Pasta’s durum wheat the following year.

This crop rotation gives life to Mancini Chickpeas: precious to the earth, ideal for a diet rich in fiber and protein.

The Land teaches over the years

It was 1938 when Mariano Mancini founded the family farm in Monte San Pietrangeli, choosing to grow wheat and to be among the first to use threshing machines.

In 2010, his grandson Massimo launched the Pastificio Agricolo project: the durum wheat took shape as Pasta Agricola Mancini (Mancini’s Estate Pasta).

A lesson from farming tradition links the past to the present: the rotation of cereals with legume crops in the fields.

Mancini Good Agricultural Practices logo

Crop rotation is part of Mancini’s Good Agricultural Practices (G.A.P.), a set of agronomic guidelines we follow to ensure an environmentally friendly and sustainable management of our farming activities. Its goal is to harvest products of the highest and most nutritious quality with the least possible environmental impact and zero chemical residues.

We rotate the crops to maintain and improve fields’ fertility, sowing our durum wheat after soil-enriching pulses (chickpeas, clover, faba beans, pea beans) or industrial crops (sunflowers, rapeseed).

Benefits for the Soil

Legumes capture atmospheric nitrogen—an essential nutrient—and fix it in the soil through their roots. This process promotes an increase in organic matter, an important indicator of soil fertility.

Environmental Benefits

The increase in organic matter, a key goal of all Mancini Good Agricultural Practice (G.A.P.) actions, helps store CO₂ in the soil, thus contributing positively to the reduction of air pollution.
